Democratic Republic of Congo – in Virunga National Park. Led by expert rangers and trackers, you’ll hike through thick forest and rugged terrain in search of a habituated gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend a full hour observing their social behavior up close—feeding, playing, and interacting within their troop. More than just a wildlife sighting, gorilla trekking is a deeply emotional and immersive experience that supports vital conservation and community efforts. Gorilla Permit Fees (as of 2025): 🟢 Uganda – $800 USD per person (Foreign Non-Residents). 🔵 Rwanda – $1,500 USD per person. 🟠 DR Congo – $400 USD per person. Permits are limited and must be secured in advance. They include ranger guides, park entry, and conservation fees. Duration: 2–6 hours (including 1 hour with gorillas). Age Limit: 15 years and above. Fitness Level: Moderate to high. Group Size: Max 8 visitors per trek. Best Time: Year-round (June–August and December–February for drier trails). Permit Required – Strictly limited and must be booked in advance.
